These informational webPages are created to present information about tuberculosis. These pages are the product of a study Done by a Student at Turku University of applied sciences Salo, Finland.
The study was conducted in helsinki and the topic was about the perceptions of Somalis in Helsinki about tuberculosis; which is very common disease in their home country.
The study has shown that almost all of the participants perceived TB to be caused by malnutrition, chest injury or cold. That is contrary to the scientific knowledge that a bacteria causes the disease and an antibiotic is needed to treat it.
These pages were done to raise awareness among Somalis not only in Finland but across the globe as the pages can be accessed online. The pages were written in Somali language and a summerised English version is added. .
